Power tools such as power grinder and sander work well for large rust-covered surface areas such as an old boat or an old car. One major disadvantage of using mechanical abrasion method is that sometimes power tools have difficulty reaching certain part of a rusted body especially the inner joints and the corners.

Last but not least, commercial chemical coating can easily be applied on rusted body parts, including the joints and hard to reach places because the coating is applied by a special spray gun. The commercial chemical coating comprises of the best of both world between the cost effective acidic solutions method and the efficient mechanical abrasion method. Moreover, this chemical coating is a sustainable cost-effective solution to rusting problems as it does not only prevent rust but also contains thermal insulation and waterproofing properties.
